How to Find a Lost Android Phone with Find My Device

Phone missing in trotro or campus? Use Google Find My Device to ring, lock, or locate your Android — setup requirements and what to do if it’s offline.

Find My Device only helps if it was set up before the phone vanished.

Before You Lose It (Do This Now)

  1. Stay signed into Google on the phone
  2. Enable Find My Device in Google settings
  3. Allow location permission
  4. Know your Google password + 2FA

When the Phone Is Missing

  1. On another device, open Google’s Find My Device (web or app)
  2. Sign in with the same Google account
  3. Choose the lost phone
  4. Play sound if nearby
  5. Secure device (lock + message) if stolen
  6. As a last resort, factory reset remotely (erases data — use carefully)

If It Shows Offline

  • Wait — it may check in when it finds network
  • Check Google account activity for clues
  • Call your number; ask network operator about SIM processes
  • Report theft with IMEI where appropriate
